The Game
What is this Game?
Dad Goes Bowling is a bowling simulator that extends the lane past what most would consider the end. You play as, Dad, a simple father who just what's to fulfill his dream of bowling at his favorite bowling alley, The Main Lane.
The Main Lane
The Main Lane is the hot spot bowling alley that hosts various leagues, sells stimulating cocktails, hosts goofy bowling balls, and accessories to wear as well. As you progress through the game various new lanes open up and extend the current lane you are bowling in. Bowlers can take advantage of various items (cocktails/food), balls with effects or even pay the clerk for an extra frame of bowling to get ahead in score.
Game Modes
There will be three main modes, a Head 2 Head, Team vs Team, and League. Head 2 Head works like casual bowling does highest scored individual wins and points are earned based on pins knocked over. Team vs Team will have players match up with the other teams players and play in Head 2 Heads. Teams must be equal in size. 1 Point is awarded for each Head 2 Head win, and 2 is awarded for the team with the highest total score. League's start with a Qualifying Round where teams bowl individually and then are placed inside a bracket seeded based off the Qualifying Round. Bracket is double elimination. Last team standing is the winner.
The Secondary Lane
As of now there are two "secondary" lanes a ball could enter. When entering a secondary lane, a separate score is kept for any pins knocked in the new lane. There are potentials for multiple strikes in the same bowl. If a player gets every pin on the second lane and the primary lane they will earn 2 strikes.
Scoring
Scoring will work similar to bowling where you are scored based on pins knocked within a frame. If a player knocks down all the pins on the first bowl of a frame then they get a strike. If they knockdown all the pins by the last bowl of the frame they get a spare. Different Lanes keep track of different scores. Strikes and Spares will only apply the change in score to their lane scores. A final score for the player is put together by adding up each of the individual lane's scores.
Why this Game?
I have many fond memories of playing the game Elf Elf Bowling with my dad when I was young. I have also noticed there is a lack of Bowling simulator games out here in the wild. I wanted to make something that was goofy and could enjoy with my dad. This game will be the product of that.
